First of all, happy Chinese Lunar new year to all Chinese people.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is commemorating the Lunar New Year with a unique event and limited-edition items once again. Despite Nintendo's confirmation that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will no longer receive huge upgrades or new DLC packages, the Lunar New Year event demonstrates that fans can expect events like this and the upcoming Festival to spice up the game's gameplay. Indeed, the Lunar New Year event has been updated since last year, giving gamers access to rare items and new dialogue.

For those unfamiliar with the festival, it marks the start of a new year in the Chinese Lunisolar calendar, which is also used by many other East Asian countries. The Lunisolar calendar, unlike the 365-day Gregorian solar calendar, is based on the moon's 29-day cycles and hence lasts 354 days. This is why gamers of Animal Crossing: New Horizons celebrated the Lunar New Year on February 12 last year but February 1 this year. The year does not, however, reset alone on this day; the Chinese Zodiac does as well. The Chinese Zodiac, which is distinct from the zodiac signs linked with Animal Crossing' star fragments, comprises 12 animals that cycle around to reflect the year, with the tiger representing the new year's animal.

New Years Items Can Wrap Money

Three limited-time items have been added to the seasonal section of the Nook Stop store in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to commemorate the Lunar New Year. The Bokjumeoni fortunate pouch, the lucky red envelope, and the Lunar New Year adornment are the three items. Each of these items may be acquired for a reasonable price, making the event accessible to players at any stage of the game.

Unfortunately, aside from its stunning look, the Lunar New Year decoration has no special properties of its own. Nonetheless, the exclusivity of these three Animal Crossing items makes them worthwhile purchases. The Bokjumeoni fortunate pouch, the lucky red envelope, and the Lunar New Year decoration all expire on February 6, so gamers who want to get them should do so before then.

Zodiac Items Are Available All Year

The Chinese Zodiac items have returned to Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the Lunar New Year. The Zodiac tiger figurine was available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Nook Stop shopping section throughout the month of January, in honor of the Year of the Tiger. However, beginning in February, players will no longer be able to purchase it, leaving many who missed out on the opportunity to wonder how they might get one.

Other Lunar New year Items

During the Lunar New Year, Animal Crossing: New Horizons also celebrates other holidays and cultural events. In the Nook Store's seasonal section, the game is doing so with more limited-time items.
